Age 86, of Shaler Twp., on Thursday, February 18, 2021, Mr. Szafranski was the beloved husband of Jacqueline L. Ashbaugh Szafranski; father of Melissa Moore (David), Stanley Szafranski Jr. (Lisa), Scott R. Szafranski, Stephen H. Szafranski (Eileen Datt); son of the late Alexander Henry and Theresa Vecchino Szafranski; brother of Anthony “Antek” Szafranski (Irene), and the late Patricia Bell, Henry “Poopie” Szafranski, Dennis Szafranski; grandfather of Stanley J. Szafranski III (Joe), Nichole M. Szafranski, Stephen V. Szafranski, Seth H. Szafranski, Jazmine R. Moore, Emilee R. Moore, Lily Moore; son-in-law of the late Robert C. and Lillian L. Ashbaugh; brother-in-law of Robert C. Ashbaugh Jr. (Janet), and the late Nancy Ashbaugh; also survived by nieces and nephews.
In addition to being a loving husband, father, and grandfather, Stan was very active within the community. He was a charter member of the Stoneridge Civic Association, Assistant Chief at the Middle Road VFD, Shaler Area School Board Member for 10 years (6 as Board President) and President during construction of the current High School, member Korean War Veteran’s Association where was a Board Member and he led the Color Guard military funerals, he developed a relationship with God on the fan tail of a destroyer which led to his involvement at St. Mary’s Catholic Church where he was one of the original lector/commentators for many years, served as an usher, Budget and Finance Committee member, St. Vincent De Paul Board Member, worked at countless church events, participated in an adult discussion group and was on the Board of Directors and conducted National Marriage Encounter weekends and Team leader training weekends. He loved the outdoors and spending weekends with his kids at their camp on French Creek.
Celebrate Mr. Szafranski’s life with his family on Monday from 3-7 PM at PERMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 923 Saxonburg Blvd., Shaler Twp. All are welcome. Visitation reservations are suggested (412) 486-3600. Funeral Mass at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Glenshaw on Tuesday at Noon. Family respectfully suggests donations be made to a Veteran’s charity of their choice.
