Stanley John Zgurzynski

On Saturday, April 20, 2024, Stanley John Zgurzynski (formerly of Clark, NJ and Tampa, FL) passed on in Pittsburgh PA.  Mr. Zgurzynski was the beloved husband of the late Dale Schweiger Zgurzynski; father of the late Stanley Michael Zgurzynski and Joseph Eric Zgurzynski; son of the late Stanley A. and Stella Kosiarski Zgurzynski; brother of Florence Haas (Tom) and the late Sr. Julia Zgurzynski and Joseph Zgurzynski (Georgiana survives); also survived by nieces and nephews.

Stan was born on December 8th,1939, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.  His mother prayed for twins and his blessed life began as one of the famous Rahway Triplets.  Stan loved sports and the outdoors his entire life.  He and his brother learned to fish on the small streams of New Jersey and ultimately fulfilled their dreams fishing together in Montana.  He enjoyed boating his entire life, but the first boat was the one that he won in the lottery, but gave to his brother, since he put his name on the ticket.  He made incredible films of his brother’s athletic exploits on the field and later enjoyed watching all of the big games on television, but especially his favorite teams: the St Louis Cardinals and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Stan served in the US Coast Guard and worked as a Customer Relations Manager for Allegheny Airlines and US Air for over 30 years. Having helped President Ronald Reagan through a difficult connection through LaGuardia, he kept a personal letter of thanks as a treasured memento.  Working for the airlines, he traveled the world, with favorite stops in Hawaii, South America, Greece and Italy.  After retirement, he loved cruising through the Caribbean with friends and family, and always wanted to make sure that everyone was having a good time, often asking “Is everybody happy?” And of course, they were because Stan treated everyday as a blessing and had such an infectious optimism and positivity.

Stan was dedicated to his parish church, teaching religious education, including for children with special needs.  He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus and served the Knights as the State Deputy of Florida.

There will be no visitation in Pittsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Agnes Church, 332 Madison Hill Road, Clark NJ on Monday at 10 AM.
