Peter J. Haigh (1942-2026), recognized for his distinguished career in Information Technology and Telecommunications, was also a life-long traveler, sports fan (especially Steelers), energetic player of tennis, squash and soccer and a wine and food enthusiast. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband of Ann, father of Adam (Jen), grandfather of Cate and Philip, brother to Paul Davidson (Jeanne) and Patricia Benson, a favorite uncle and a caring cousin to a score of relatives in a close family.
Born in Yorkshire, England, Peter early on exhibited the fine mind and characteristic discipline that would earn him a coveted scholarship to the University of Cambridge. There, studying at St. Catherine’s College, he earned a Master’s Degree in Geography. Post-university, he entered London’s financial community, researching and advising on corporate pension investments, then emigrated to Australia to pursue a career in computer systems—ultimately focusing on their applications in healthcare.
On a 1972 business trip, while waiting in Philadelphia for an airport limousine in front of the Bellevue Stratford hotel, he met Ann. This Kismet resulted in a beautiful and fulfilling 53-year marriage. The couple lived in Geelong, Victoria, Australia, then returned to the United States, living first in Philadelphia, next in Washington, D.C., Kansas City and finally in Pittsburgh.
Throughout Peter’s US career, he held impactful executive positions—Consulting Partner at KMG, JPNetwork Systems, Verizon; executed major network projects—among others, at Case Western Reserve University, Washington State University, New York Presbyterian Hospital. He published extensively and spoke frequently at conferences, particularly on HIPPA.
He also partnered with Ann on her career as a food journalist. Together they covered world food and wine events, culinary awards around the globe, published articles on food and travel and produced a culinary-focused podcast, On The Menu, which aired weekly for 21 years.
Above all, Peter aimed to live life fully, productively and joyfully. And he did.
