Age 82, formerly of West Deer Twp., on Thursday, July 10, 2025, Mrs. Kubala was the beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” Kubala; mother of Sharon Brusco (late Lance), Kristin Parise (David), Daniel Kubala, Jeffrey Kubala (Elizabeth “Betty”), Gary Kubala (Sandy), late Edward Nacey and Daniel Nacey; sister of the late Ruth Dietz (Allen), Kurt Nestel, Elise Miller (surv. Ernie); grandmother of Lance Brusco Jr. (Lauren Sines), Courtney Brusco, Macy Parise, Riley Parise, Ambr Auge (George), Kayla Satariano (Dominic), Joshua Kubala, Shannon Patterson (Andrew), Alex Kubala (Kate), Narryannah Bayne (Eric).
Marie Nestel Kubala was a doting mother, grandmother, and great-grand mother. She was along resident of West Deer for over 50 years where she raised all of her kids. She spent her career as a manager at Allegheny Valley Federal Credit Union, where she met the love of her life Bob.
They continued their life and blended together, raising all their kids as one family. Most of their time was spent at Canadohta Lake where they owned their cottage for 42 years. They loved their time up there socializing with their friends and boating. In retirement, they would take a month long vacation to Florida and meet their friends from all over, even Canada!
Marie loved to make jams and can her own food. She planted marigolds and other flowers in her garden, and when they were ready to be picked, she’d get the grandchildren together to help. Holidays were a big deal in the Kubala household and Marie was always the best host. She enjoyed the family opening their gifts on Christmas Eve and seeing the excitement on their faces.
Marie also taught her family how to make hard tack candy and Christmas cookies every December. The grandchildren always accompanied her when decorating the sugar cookies and cutting the tack candy. Some of her other hobbies included golf, both watching and a short stint in playing, cross stitching, reading crime and mystery novels, and bowling. Marie and Bob were a part of a bowling league for many years. She will forever be missed by her family and friends, leaving a hole in all of their hearts. Everyone will continue to carry on the family traditions she made.
