Ruth F. (Stevens) Petronic

Ruth, a joyful lover of family and friends and believer in Jesus Christ, died peacefully on the morning of Oct 5, 2015 at the glorious age of 93.
Ruth was born in Lawrenceville in 1922 and later lived in Etna before settling in Shaler Township. She was married to the late Mark J. Petronic for 66 years, who was a crane operator in the Blawnox Steel Company.
She loved her family and longed to always spend time around them. She would often talk about how her family meant everything to her, expressing her love and appreciation for us often. She retired as a cashier from the A&P grocery store in Aspinwall and loved to spend her free time swimming laps (even into her 80's), gardening, cooking, listening to talk radio, and clipping interesting articles from the newspaper to share with family - oh, and eating, she loved eating - especially dessert! She would often be planning dessert as early as right after breakfast.
Due to mobility issues with knee and hip problems, at the invitation of her daughter Joyce, a retired critical care nurse, Ruth decided to move to Tucson, Arizona in 2009 and live with and be cared for by Joyce. Together, they eventually moved out of Tucson to a newly built home out in the rural desert. She loved living in that desert location and was cared for like a queen.
Ruth had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and knew and understood where her future eternity lied. Although she will be missed on earth, she is now in the presence of her Lord and without need.
Ruth is the mother of Carole McGuire of O'Hara, Joyce Williams of Marana, AZ, Mark Petronic of Gaithersburg, MD, and the late Lynne Petronic. She is also survived by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Celebrate Ruth's life with her family on Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM at Perman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 923 Saxonburg Blvd. at Route 8, Shaler Twp. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St Bonaventure Church, Glenshaw on Saturday at 10 AM. The family respectfully suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
