George R. Oesterling

Of Shaler Twp., on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, Mr. Oesterling was the beloved husband of Marilee A. Laslavic Oesterling; father of Nathaniel S. and Natilee A. Oesterling, both of Shaler Twp.; son of the late Richard and Garnet F. King Oesterling. George was a retired teacher of chemistry, physics and Civil War History at North Catholic High School. He was known for his lectures on the Battle of Gettysburg and the infamous story of Sam Sebastian. George had a great love of music. He was a musician who played piano, guitar and trumpet with “Kindred Spirit” who toured with Chicago in the ‘60s and ‘70s. He was a trivia whiz and avid fan of trivia who enjoyed creating ridiculously difficult trivia quizzes to try to stump friends, students and family.

Celebrate George’s life with his family at Memorial Services at Christ Lutheran Church, Millvale on Saturday at 11 AM. Arrangements by Perman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 923 Saxonburg Blvd. at Rt. 8, Shaler Twp. The family respectfully suggests donations to the American Lung Association, 810 River Ave # 140, Pittsburgh, PA 15212 or food or monetary donations for the family.
